Yahoo is shutting down another of his web property and this time it is GeoCities.

GeoCities free web hosting has been one of the very few free hosting on the internet and widely known though not used much anymore. Yahoo has also sent an email in this regard.

GeoCities was launched during 90’s and offered a great place for aspiring webmasters to launch websites.  I still remember that how proud one felt when somebody opened a site with Geocities in the early days of internet and inform everybody.

Yahoo, is the owner of GeoCities, and has finally decided to close the site. Yahoo has announced that GeoCities will cease to function on October 26, 2009.

Yahoo is also encouraging webmaster who are having sites on Geocities to upgrade to Yahoo webhosting and also offering a great discount.
